Happy New Year! I hope that 2019 has started well for you!
I have been thinking about people being whom we don’t want them to be. It’s been a theme this last week when I have been talking to friends. We can’t make people do what we want them to or have them be whom we would like them to be. Perhaps it has come up this last while because people have been hanging out with their families over this holiday season and if there are people we would like to change, it would be those we are closest to. This is something that I have tried at different times in my life to get my head around. I think that I understand this life lesson and then I hear myself thinking that I want someone to be different then the Happy New Year!
I think that I understand this life lesson and then I hear myself thinking that I want someone to be different then they are and I realize that the lesson has not really been absorbed. You know that old adage where the only one we can control/change is ourselves whether it is our reactions to things or who we choose to hang out with. Oh yes, because apparently the people we hang out with have a huge influence on us as well. The number five figures in here. No wonder our parents cared about who our friends were….
So perhaps for the New Year we can think about how we might like to change this for ourselves. If I am interested in taking better care of myself, perhaps I can choose to hang out with the people who influence me in a positive way. We do have a limited amount of energy and we do have some chose as to how we might use it. I am trying to continue to learn how to care for myself and make wise choices for myself. I wish this for you as well especially as we start another New Year when we tend to be a bit more reflective. May 2019 bring you contentment and joy. I am promising myself to do more things this year that will bring me both of these things.
Until next time! May your life be full of all things bright and beautiful!
Yours in creativity and music,
Wanda G.
