I am in the middle of a trip to the UK. It is always interesting to travel and see things from a new perspective. As well, to be reminded that there is more then one way to do things. This can be as simple as how people eat their food. Apparently I don’t use my fork and knife quite right as compared to people here. I would have never guessed this was a difference in the past.
I had a colleague review my album Shifting Sands recently and I was so pleased with the review. What struck me was the new view of my songs. She took some of the lyrics and talked about them in a whole new way. It can be difficult to see new things about your own work. I have written before about new perspectives and it continues a to be something I keep noticing. How can you and I possibly see things in the exact same way?. Our experiences have been different no matter how similar they might look from the outside. The challenge with songwriting is that I want to be able to open your view of the world and my own as well as have the songs resonate with the listener.
I hope that remembering this idea of different perspectives helps to keep my mind and heart open. May you find more creativity in your day to day life and may this help to open your heart.
Yours in Creativity and Music,
Wanda G.
