It is eleven months since my album Shifting Sands was released. It is nearly impossible to believe that it was such a short time ago. I have come to love and understand these songs more and more as I play them. As I head out on my tour/trip I understand again the words of the song Thanks Past Me. I find myself almost daily being grateful that I can depend on something I have done or learned in this past year. I bought some new sound equipment yesterday and was proud to realize that I do understand some of the jargon associated with the equipment and how to use the equipment quite easily. The first time Robyn and I rented music equipment for a show back in 2013, we had no idea what we were doing. I am happy that I am getting busy enough with live performances that I need to have my own equipment.
I seem to be writing songs in bunches. I am already in love with a few of them. Some are still getting themselves sorted out and others are waiting to be born. This thing of creativity needs both consistency and hard work as well as some magic mixed in, or perhaps it is trust. It is tough to tell how good or bad a song might be until other ears have also heard it. Songs that I was very unsure of did end up on the last album. I am curious as to what might happen with the next one.
I have a show here in Regina on the 13th and then I head out for five more shows, in Sask, Alberta and BC. Mixed in with the shows will be a yoga retreat, visits with friends and a couple days of songwriting at Cypress Hills Provincial Park. This will bring me back to Regina in a couple of weeks. I also have the final mixes of my Christmas single which I look forward to sharing with you in a couple of months.
I hope your September is going well and that you are trying something new and possibly something that gets your creative juices going, perhaps a writing class, pottery or photography.
Take care.
Yours in creativity and music,
Wanda G.
