I have experienced so many different emotions in this last month, from elation to depression and everything in between. This last week especially has been one of uncertainty and vulnerability. I have been doing things, like sending out a Press Release, that is a whole new experience for me. I do think I have something to offer with my music but still self-promotion ( which is necessary if anyone is to know about the music) can be exhausting and there has been a never ending list of things to do as I move closer to the CD launch. As I attempt to do these new things certain questions come to mind. How brave do I actually feel today? Can I look a bit to the side so that I do contact that person whom I would rather not? Is today the day I need a bit of extra down time?
I have also been reflecting on why launching this CD is such a big deal. It is a big deal for me because I have poured my heart and soul into the songs, the recording of them and the promoting of the release. And I do want to share them more widely which having them recorded allows. Also, working with others on the recording of the songs brought more richness to them as others added their creativity and musicianship. I am thrilled and overwhelmed by the final product and am so so grateful for my producer Brad Prosko’s work as well as the musicians, Murray Pulver, Jayson Brinkworth, Julian Bradford and Mike Little.
I hope, if you get a chance to hear the songs on this new album Shifting Sands that they will touch you and bring you some joy and solace as they have me.
Yours in creativity and music,
#Life is Wide Open.
