2017 is quickly coming to a close. It is my intention to write a blog post on the 1st and 15th of every month. I see that last year I had 19 blog posts so not quite 24 but I am getting there. I am going to send out my Newsletter once a month on the 1st and I will include links to the new blog post and to the one from two weeks earlier. My blog posts do appear on my website as well so they are always there.
I am not sure how to talk about this past year. It has been full to the brim on both the personal and music side. We celebrated our parents 60 years of marriage, my youngest son was married in England in the summer and I managed to release my sophomore album in October. I have been working with an on-line mentor and support group that has helped with focusing on what needs to get done to build a music career. One of the biggest parts of that has been learning to stay focused on goals and have a list of things not to do.
I was lucky enough to have time away to write some songs and then chose the best eight for the album. I have had so much support this past year for my music and I have felt that I have grown as a musician. There has been so many serendipitous moments that I am left feeling that the Universe has certainly been in charge.
I was listening to a piece about Oprah Winfrey. Although I’m not a huge fan I am inspired by what she has accomplished in her life. She had the philosophy of keeping your blinders on and staying in your own lane. Comparing mind is a huge challenge for all of us and certainly in the music world it can be deadly. So this year, I will try to keep that more in the foreground-ie. less time on Facebook seeing what everyone else is doing! My hope for my music is that it will bring comfort and joy to its listeners. My desire for myself and for all of us is that we will have the capacity to open ourselves to the Universe to receive the gift of creativity.
May you enter this New Year with optimism and happiness! May love and peace, hope and joy show up this next year in abundance!
Yours in Music and Creativity,
Wanda G.
